Julie-Maree Southen is one of New Zealands leading still life and product photographers. Her creative thinking and ability to bring an image to life means that her work is regularly awarded, and published in the international publication, ARCHIVE Magazine. She has a natural ability to view an advertising concept and through creative collaboration, produce an image that is inspirational.

After completing a graphic design degree at University and then assisting in London for some of the United Kingdoms best product photographers for 4 years, Julie-Maree has spent the past years based in New Zealand, shooting international and nationally based campaigns for design and advertising agencies worldwide.

The trademark signature to her images is a strong graphic influence in her compositions and her eye for detail, taking the mundane, everyday object and injecting life and beauty to transform it into a work of advertising art. She believes in the traditional methods of capturing an image, with all lighting and effects captured in camera as one image wherever possible. In a world of photoshop, its a rare talent these days. She is also very familiar with digital composite work.

You can regularly find Julie-Maree featuring her photographs in group exhibitions both in New Zealand and the United Kingdom.

Outside of work Julie-Maree enjoys spending time outdoors and loves to travel.
